Just like its popular big sister the 575, the new Hanse 505 boasts a superb Judel/Vrolijk design and Hanse’s signature features and quality finishes that have made this family of yachts an international success.
The modern sleek hull has a long loaded waterline length and an outstanding beam topped with a solid, safer bulwark, a best-in-class spacious cockpit with twin helms, optimum deck gear distribution and a large easy-access bathing platform.
The cockpit is innovative and best in class, with plenty of room for the whole crew.
It features twin helms with NavPods for easy control, sturdy tables that convert into two large sunbaking areas, comfortable backrest angles, a fridge, lockers, and easy-access, under-floor life raft stowage.
There’s also lots of space for cup holders and water-tight stowage scoops for the small necessities like mobile phones.
With no deck bridge, moving in and out of the cockpit is smooth and easy while the companionway stairs have a comfortable 54 degree angle so you don’t have to duck when going down below.
The deck has been designed with safer movement and easy sailing in mind with all lines running underneath to the twin helms, winches positioned at the helms, a one-step-high coach roof that’s free of winches and gear, and flush-mounted portholes and hatches.
The decks flat structure is safer and offers greater visibility and, combined with its high freeboard allows more living space and headroom below.
Around the deck are 10 large opening and flush hatches that give your interior natural light and plenty of ventilation.

In the Med this year and next. Caribbean end of next year, Bermuda for Americas Cup, eventually NZ.
With my wife and two daughters wanted a well built, reliable and safe, modern family cruiser that sails well and is suitable for shorthanded ocean passages to eventually make its way back to the South Pacific…
A moving holiday home and a race ready vessel were just what the Thorpe family had in mind for their Hanse 505…
When entrepreneur Chris Thorpe acquired Miss Minx just in time for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2014, he was keen to find out what competitive edge she offered in her maiden races and even more so, he was looking forward to the perfect lifestyle of regular sailing with the whole family. “After Race Week, we took Miss Minx 80-kilometres offshore to Black Reef,” said Chris, “and lived there in paradise for days.”
Chris’s wife, Lauren, loves having a holiday home with no fixed address and the freedom of dropping anchor at some of the most beautiful places on the planet. “We took the kids snorkeling for the first time in their lives North East of Cook Island at Manta Ray Bay. We popped their heads under the water and they came up shrieking with joy at the fish and coral. It was wonderful to watch them so overwhelmed and amazed.” Read the Full Story from Sails Magazine here
“Hanse Yachts can’t seem to do much wrong these days. In the hands of its Australian distributor, Windcraft, the brand has established itself Down Under in record time.
Hanse’s attributes of ease of sail handling, good fit and finish, wide model range and great value for money have left many formerly strong competitors struggling in its wake.
The competition won’t get much succour from perusing the specifications of the new 505 that offers fast cruising performance and below- deck layout flexibility that should suit buyers ranging from passagemaking couples to eight-berth-plus-one-crew charter operators.” Read the full Trade a Boat Review here
