If you are a sailor who asks a lot of a boat and wants the “whole package”….Hanse 455 #106 is the boat for you.
Demand for the Hanse 455 model is high (and this is before the big Dusseldorf boatshow…) so we had to jump the queue and grab one to display at this year’s Sydney Boatshow. We’ve chosen factory options you’ll love. And if you decide this is the boat for you – you can add your own finishing touches with a wide choice of locally fitted options…too easy!
You can put your name on this boat right now, snap up this current offer and avoid a very long wait!
The standard white hull with the dark grey waterlines are the signature Hanse look – along with the sleek lines and perspective that come at precisely this size in the Judel Vrolijk masterpiece.
The keel is the T shape, cast iron, fast and with a draft of 2.25m. And the rudder profile is a lovely deep one.
And if you’re keen on a bit of racing…just ask us for the “go faster” hull treatment when the boat is commissioned.
If you’re an accomplished sailor the superb Selden rig will excite you and if you’re not that experienced yet it’ll make you look like a pro!
We chose the upgrade of sails – the Elvstrom FCL – Fast Cruising Laminate with a Tri Radial cut. While not essential they are what a boat like this deserves.
Quite simply the better the sail, the better the sailing. With the powerful fully battened main and efficient trademark self tacking jib, you’re in for some awesome sailing.
Total sail area is 103msq – the power and drive is in the main but remember the Hanse design criteria is that the boat must be easy to sail by one..and it is!
The headsail is on a Furlex furler with the furling line led aft to the cockpit. Other rig features you’ll love are the adjustable backstay and vang. There’s a lot of hidden potential on the Hanse but they are also very forgiving to a ‘set and forget’ attitude until you are ready to take your sailing to a new level.
At the Bow – the vast sail locker is the place to store all the gear and toys. Handy for hard to stow items like fishing rods and fenders.
It’s also where you access the Anchor gear – 60m of 10mm chain to go with the 20kg Delta Anchor. The bow thruster is also accessed here.
One of the advantages of the self tacking headsail is that it is quite safe for the kids or your guests to remain at the bow when you tack.
In fact even if you forget to tell them that you are tacking….
On deck we’ve chosen the coachroof teak option – there is a reason Hanse show this off in all the brochure shots.. so stylish.
Down the clutter free sides you will notice the rail gates – jolly useful on a boat this size. Add a fender step, stainless steel ladder (or milk crate…) for side entry .
Also note the spring cleats – these come in the Cruise pack. All the cleats are the big boat style retractable ones. You also get mooring lines, fenders and boathook .
Moving aft into the cockpit – the centre of action or relaxation!
The cockpit design is very clever – the way the seats curve around at the companionway gives you the feel of a much bigger boat.
The ergonomics on the Hanse keep getting better, on this model the curves, heights and depths combine to provide comfort, space and a safe feeling. It is here that any non sailing guests who don’t want to be involved with the actual sailing can relax with a book on the cockpit cushions. They don’t need to help and more importantly are not “in the way” which is good for you and nice for them. Whoever is at the helm can easily enjoy the sailing the boat solo even in the toughest conditions.
The elegant teak and stainless steel cockpit table is functional, strong and just the right size. Make sure you order the varnish – all boats need a bit of varnish and it means no need to be precious about spillages at lunch…..
As on all Hanse’s the 455 has the excellent Danish Jefa steering system.
Each GRP black Y spoke wheel has its own steering pedestal with instrument pod. Mounted here are the two B&G Zeus touch screen plotters – part of the Navigation Pack that this 455 is optioned with.
Also the autopilot control head and the control panel for the bow thruster – yep we added one of these for you as well.
Again not essential, you can (and should …) park the boat without one but very handy for those tricky berths and for maintaining composure when visiting unknown marina’s…. All the B & G instruments talk to each other.
The other instruments are housed in the coaming at the helm position. Again, the ultra reliable and easy to use B&B Triton range. The VHF at the nav station also comes with a remote handset which you can put a mount for at the helm. Of course the onboard music can also be controlled from the helm position.
Most of us love BBQ’s on a boat but not so keen on spoiling the lines when they have to hang off the transom.
Less things to get bumped as well….
Winches – the main halyard winches are of course electric – the Lewmar 50 EST EVO.
You don’t have to use this function but everyone loves it….
Secondary winches are in their dedicated spot – for if and when you choose to sail with a genoa or gennaker.
First off – you can walk down forwards – this is because the angle of the companionway steps is so gentle.
Straight away you will notice the light! It’s incredible from the hull windows and many many windows and opening hatches .
Even the motor boat crowd admit that there are no dark corners or claustrophobia that used to be associated with yachts.
A clever blind system means that you can keep the boat cool.
On the hatches these blinds also come with a fly screen. At night you can create a cosy ambience with the sophisticated LED lighting system. The back lights look really nice.
Both these features are part of the Comfort Pack that we chose for this boat.
Even with a crowd on board – and there’s certainly room – there is an easy flow and space for everyone. Comfy sofas, a folding saloon table and navigation desk.
The galley is no nonsense with all you need – even a coffee machine hidden away. A neat garbage arrangement and extra wine storage in the floor – every space made good use of. Hanse 455 # 106 comes with a 1600w invertor so no problem if you would like us to fit a microwave. This really is a home away from home.
The owners cabin is luxurious – an island bed and in a clever take on the ensuite – the head on one side and shower on the other.
Two huge aft cabins with plenty of their own light and air.
The main day head has a separate shower area and an electric toilet .
For ultimate class and style we chose the American Cherry Wood in satin finish matched with the Classic style teak floors. The most expensive combination but you can see why from this picture.
We’ve chosen Valencia Cream upholstery – very similar to these pics.
This gives a natural and neutral look to which you can add your cushions & soft furnishings in your favourite colours.
All the bed mattresses are finished in the same fabric. We can put you in touch with Sheets Ahoy who have done some very special custom made bedding for many of our owners.
The Hanse 455 is the first model to benefit from carbon composite bulkheads that the factory is now using. Six layers of carbon mean that this boat is super strong . It also means the boat is very stiff, holding a full rig easily even in the strongest winds. Combined with the ultra large keel bolts that Hanse use and fibreglass floor grid you know that this boat will look after you. No creaks and groans on this boat – down below under way you will feel cosy and safe.
The Hanse 455 is a perfect example of why 45ft will become the new 40ft. Hanse has successfully responded to the market demand for higher levels of “liveability” and good sailing made easy.
“We have had our new Hanse 455 (“Imagine”) now for 3 months and Li and I could not be happier. The boats performance and ease of handling makes cruising a breeze even single-handed. The new sail configuration with the self-tacker makes this Yacht pretty impressive up wind for a cruiser. The guys at Windcraft have been incredibly supportive and attended to any issues promptly and efficiently. The other pleasant surprise for us is the Hanse family of current owners who clearly love their yachts, which speaks testimony to the calibre of this design and after sales service. Happy Sailing!”
